Shane Beamer has message for South Carolina student section following win vs. Kentucky
Shane Beamer understands that the South Carolina student section will need to be at full throat against Clemson with bowl eligibility on the line.
The Gamecocks defeated Kentucky, 17-14, to improve to 5-6 on the season. That sets up a massive game on Saturday against the Tigers at Williams-Brice Stadium.
While Beamer was complimentary of the volume—”I remember thinking to myself ‘This is the loudest I’ve heard this stadium since I’ve been the head football coach here’,” he said—he did have a point of criticism.
“If I can nitpick a little bit, Cockpit, we love you, but if you’re gonna come, please stay for the whole game,” he said. “That end zone was amazing, but we don’t need empty seats in a 4-quarter dog fight like that in our student section.”
South Carolina will need to be at its best against the visiting Tigers, who will be looking to avenge last year’s loss at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff from Columbia is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
“There was a time where I thought to myself that this was the loudest I’ve ever heard this play.”
