Shane Beamer’s teams are showing a knack for pulling off blowout wins as massive underdogs. Beamer is in a club all by himself with South Carolina’s latest blowout win over Tennessee.

Brandon Zimmerman of ESPN and the SEC Network notes that Beamer is the first FBS coach since the FBS/FCS split to win by 20 points or more twice as an underdog of 20 points or more.

The first blowout upset of the Beamer era in South Carolina came last season when the Gamecocks defeated Florida 40-17. Beamer’s squad entered the game 4-4. By beating UF and Auburn in November, the Gamecocks finished 6-6 in the regular season, going to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

Saturday’s 63-38 South Carolina win over Tennessee as a 22-point underdog gives the Gamecocks 7 wins heading into the regular-season finale against Clemson.
