It looks like Saturday’s matchup between the Volunteers and Gamecocks will feature a little extra excitement.
Players from each team took to Twitter Thursday to get in a little bit of trash talk ahead of the game. It all started with a video from Gamecocks Football that referred to South Carolina DB Rashad Fenton as “Fenton Island.” Fenton has had a strong year with 23 total tackles.
Tennessee WR Tyler Byrd was unimpressed. He fired a shot at the video and claimed “Fenton Island” does not exist. It was a strong comment from a WR who has just two catches on the season. There is also the fact that Tennessee has struggled all year and remains 0-2 in SEC play.
It did not take long for South Carolina players to see the tweet, and they made sure to respond to Byrd’s shot:
he must not seen what happened to Hurd last year from running his mouth.. https://t.co/Trfc3k0XL7
