South Carolina’s 2017 recruiting class took a big hit Sunday evening following the decommitment of Hamsah Nasirildeen. The four-star defensive back had been committed to the Gamecocks since August.

Nasirildeen took to Twitter to announce he has flipped his commitment to Florida State:

Rated as a Top 100 overall prospect and North Carolina’s No. 1 prospect by 247Sports, Nasirildeen was also selected to play in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Game.

With Nasirildeen’s decommitment, the Gamecocks are down to 24 total commitments in the 2017 recruiting class – which includes the six early enrollees scheduled to join the team before spring football begins.

It will be interesting to see if Nasirildeen’s decommitment has any affect on South Carolina’s top commit, fellow defensive back prospect Jamyest Williams. Williams visited Georgia over the weekend and has been receiving the full court press by Kirby Smart and company leading up to National Signing Day.
