South Carolina QB Michael Scarnecchia led the Gamecocks to victory over the Missouri Tigers in Week 6, but Will Muschamp is going back to Jake Bentley as his starter.

Muschamp confirmed the decision Thursday night on his weekly radio show.

The news does not come as a surprise after the third-year South Carolina coach said earlier this week that Bentley would be the starting quarterback if he were healthy enough to play.

In the 37-35 win over Mizzou, Scarnecchia went 20-of-35 passing for 249 yards and three touchdowns. He also managed the game-winning drive, leading South Carolina down the field to set up K Parker White deciding field goal.

The Gamecocks are 3-2 heading into the Texas A&M. Bentley started the other four games in which the team went 2-2.

The South Carolina-Texas A&M game is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff and will air on the SEC Network.

Edit: The name of South Carolina’s kicker was mistakenly listed as Michael Parker.
