The Ohio sports betting numbers were released this afternoon for March and one operator posted a surprising top-three finish in terms of handle in the Buckeye State.

Bet365, the online sports betting operator for the Cleveland Guardians, reported $54,463,544 in total online sports betting handle for March, good for the third highest handle in the state.

The online sports betting operator also reported the third highest revenue figures for the month, behind operating behemoths DraftKings and FanDuel.

Bet365 continues strong Ohio push

In total, $737.2 million in bets were made (online and retail) in Ohio for the month of March, more than a $95 million increase in handle compared with February.

Bet365 has seen surprising results in the Ohio so far, finishing in the top-four of online sports betting handle totals during the first three months of sports betting. Bet365’s strong performance this month can perhaps be tied to its promotional spend, as the operator invested nearly $17 million in promotional spend for the month. DraftKings and FanDuel both only dedicated a little more than $8 million in promotional spend.

The operators has reported a total online sports betting handle of $124.08 million and $24.98 million in revenue over the first three months of sports betting.

While it lags behind DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM in terms of total handle and revenue, an argument can be made that Bet365 has been the fourth most successful online sports betting operator in the state.
