Deion Sanders interrogates media member, rejects question from CBS reporter during Colorado's media day
Deion Sanders is not scared to stir the pot a bit, ruffling feathers across his first year and change as Colorado’s head coach. That carried over on Friday with an… interesting appearance at the media day event for the Buffs.
Right off the bat, Sanders made some interesting remarks as he thanked the people in attendance “who truly care, and appreciate you guys who don’t as well.” Some members in attendance chuckled while Sanders himself flashed a grin.
But what transpired should lead many to believe the head coach was serious with his remark.
At one point, a reporter tried to ask a question and Sanders accused the reporter of not liking Colorado while asking the reporter “Why do you do this?”
“It would be hard for me to engage in something I don’t like or someone I don’t like,” said Sanders. “I’m just asking why — like, why? Because you want me to answer you; you answer me.”
Sanders went on to say he wasn’t going to give the reporter “a chance to be on attack.” He also rejected the reporter’s question, saying he would answer a question once the reporter “talks about that” with Sanders.
Even for Sanders’ tenure, this interaction hits pretty strong on the weirdness meter.
Pretty tense moment, I guess, between Deion Sanders and a reporter looking to ask a question.
Follow-up question was about Deion’s birthday plans…

At a different point, a writer for CBS tried to get in a question, but Sanders was not having any of it. He cut the reporter off and said he would not be doing anything for anyone tied to the network, even acknowledging the specific writer in question was a local writer.
“I ain’t doing nothing for CBS, next question. Ain’t got nothing to do with you, it’s above that,” Sanders claimed. “I got love for you, I appreciate you, I respect you. It ain’t got nothing to do with you, they know what they did… What they did was foul.”

Needless to say, it’s an interesting start to the season for Coach Prime, especially considering his Colorado program has a preseason win total set at 5.5. ESPN Bet has the under number listed at -140, so it could be another tough season for the Buffs in Sanders’ second season. (Use SDS’s real money betting apps for the latest offers.
One thing Sanders has made clear: He is not going to change when it comes to his tenure as a head coach, even if the quirks are odd and can be a put off for some. It’s also unclear how much time he’ll get to continue his tenure with the Buffs if things go south this fall and the star power on his roster jets for the NFL in the spring.
