Tom Herman addresses Urban Meyer-to-Texas rumors, names area where it hurts the most

Former Florida and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer has mentioned as a possible candidate at Texas should the Longhorns move on from coach Tom Herman.
Longhorn fans are increasingly frustrated with Herman, who is 30-17 overall and 21-12 in Big 12 play.
This year, Texas is 5-2 and the consensus is that Herman and the Longhorns have fallen short of expectations. The issue came up on Monday at Herman’s weekly press conference. Herman was asked what he tells players and recruits when his job security comes into question with Meyer’s name being mentioned.
โIโm concerned about our players. Iโm concerned about our program. Iโm concerned about beating Kansas. Iโm concerned about all of our goals still being in front of us,โ he said, per Football Scoop.
โWith our players itโs really easy because they know the truth. Thereโs a second of people within our enterprise that know the truth, and then thereโs rumors. Thereโs unnamed sources, thereโs agendas, thereโs Internet reporters that claim their own opinion as fact. The player part is really easy, almost comical where a player will come up to me and say, โCoach, youโll never guess what lunacy just came across my feed.โ
โThe recruiting partโs a different story. When you have the things that have been written about us and our program, myself and our future, very unfounded articles that state opinion as fact, that state unnamed sources as factual, thatโs very hard to defend against. If Iโm a competing recruiter, what do you do? You press print and you say, โLook, this is true. It must be true, itโs on Orangefans.com,โ Herman concluded.
