Washington has set its sights on its next head coach after the school parted ways with Jimmy Lake recently amid an investigation into his treatment of players.

Fresno State head coach Kalen DeBoer will become the next Washington coach, according to Matt Zenitz of On3. The 47-year old South Dakota native replaces Lake, who was fired after less than two seasons in charge.

DeBoer is in his second season with Fresno State after he coached the 2019 season as Indiana’s offensive coordinator when the Hoosiers had an 8-5 record. The Bulldogs went 3-3 last season, and are 9-3 this season.

He was previously the offensive coordinator at Fresno State, Eastern Michigan and Southern Illinois, all multi-season stints.

He was the head coach at University of Sioux Falls, where he was a player, from 2005-09.
