Wisconsin QB Tyler Van Dyke leaves Alabama game with injury in 1st quarter
Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was injured early in the game against Alabama. He went down with what was described by the FOX broadcast booth as a non-contact injury, and it doesn’t sound good.
According to FOX’s Jenny Taft, Van Dyke was quickly taken to the injury tent, and it was clear he was in a lot of pain dealing with a right knee injury:
“It was clear that Tyler Van Dyke was in so much pain leaving that tent, having a hard time keeping his balance,” Taft described from the sidelines. “It was that right knee. He’s heading to the locker room for further evaluation and imaging. He was pretty beside himself in the moment.”
The broadcast cameras showed Van Dyke being carted to the locker room for further evaluation, but the early signs are that the Badgers will be without the starter in this game. That is not a good sign for Wisconsin with the Badgers already struggling offensively in the first two games of the season and heading into Week 3 as a big home underdog to the Tide.
The former starter at Miami was 38-for-63 passing the ball in the first 2 games for 406 yards but with just 1 touchdown. Van Dyke also had a rushing touchdown in the first 2 weeks.
With Van Dyke currently sidelined, the Badgers will turn to Braedyn Locke under center. He appeared in 5 games during the 2023 season with 777 yards, 5 touchdowns and an interception but completed just 50% of his passes.
