Kyle McCord has had a fantastic season leading the Syracuse Orange in 2024. The quarterback transferred to Syracuse after spending the previous 3 seasons with Ohio State. McCord led the Orange to a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Holiday Bowl.

During the Holiday Bowl, McCord cemented himself in the ACC record books. The QB found wide receiver Darrell Gill Jr. down the field for a 50-yard completion. This completion officially made McCord the all-time single-season passing yards leader in ACC history.

Entering the Holiday Bowl, McCord had 4,326 passing yards. The previous single-season record was held by Deshaun Watson, who threw for 4,593 yards for Clemson in 2016. This meant McCord needed 268 passing yards in the bowl game to surpass Watson’s record.

Regardless of the outcome of this game, McCord cemented himself as a Syracuse legend. In addition to the ACC record, McCord set a Syracuse record for passing yards in a season and passing TDs in a season. After the Holiday Bowl, McCord will also move to No. 9 in career passing yards for the Orange, even with just 1 season under his belt.

At the end of the 3rd quarter, McCord and the Orange have a 42-28 lead over the Cougars. McCord has 315 passing yards and 4 TDs. If the Orange can hand on, it will be the team’s first bowl win since the 2018 Camping World Bowl against West Virginia. This is the first appearance in the Holiday Bowl for the Orange.
