There are largely 3 teams that have received much of the attention when analysts and college football experts have picked the SEC division winners this season. But ESPN’s Andre Ware stepped out of the bunch a bit.

Speaking from the broadcast of the Eastern Kentucky-Marshall game, Ware revealed a surprising SEC team as a national title contender.

“Texas A&M,” he said, without hesitation, per 247Sports.

The Aggies were underrated at No. 13 in the preseason polls, and Ware is a big believer in QB Kellen Mond.

“It’s my darkhorse to win the national title,” Ware said. “I think they’re very underrated. I think they’ve got a ton of talent. Jimbo Fisher has recruited very well. Eight starters on offense, nine on the defensive side return – with a quarterback that I think is going to have one heck of a year.”

Naturally, with a pick like this, another team from the SEC West would need to fall, and Ware believes LSU is the one that will have a drop off.

“I think they’re way overrated … five starters return,” Ware said. “They won the national championship last year so whoever voted and puts the polls together give them consideration for having done so, but I think that’s way too high for LSU. I may have Texas A&M slotted in that Top 5 and LSU way down the list based on who they return.”
