Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin did not have a good night.

Through nearly three quarters of football Sunday, Texas A&M was well on its way to a strong season opening win against UCLA. Unfortunately, the Aggies blew a 44-10 lead late in the third quarter. UCLA posted 554 yards of offense and overcame three turnovers to knock off the Aggies 45-44.

Yeah, we’re still not sure how it happened either.

Sumlin, who is starting 2017 on the hot seat, instantly received criticism from one A&M Board of Regents member following the game. The regent basically slammed Sumlin and said he should be fired on his personal Facebook page. You can read the post here.

While everyone in the country is buzzing about the comments, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit fired back at him on Twitter:

Blowing a 44-10 second-half lead is not the start Sumlin and the Aggies were hoping for, but they will need to turn things around quickly in order to have a strong season and save Sumlin’s job.

A&M will play Nicholls State and Louisiana-Lafayette before starting conference play.
