Jimbo Fisher discusses Texas A&M Senior Day win over UMass
Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M probably should have cruised past UMass on Saturday. Even though this was a 10-3 game at halftime, the Aggies ended up with a 20-3 victory to eventually shake off the Minutemen on Senior Day and break a 6-game losing streak.
“Very happy for our seniors to be able to go out on Senior Day and get a win,” Fisher said postgame. “No matter what you get, it’s a great win.”
Quarterback Conner Weigman got the call for the Aggies and was 11-of-19 for 191 yards and a touchdown. He also totaled 66 yards on 8 carries.
“I thought he did a really nice job making good decisions getting what he could,” Fisher said. “He’s really athletic [and] he made a heck of a throw there at the end. You can see the kind of talent he has in those hands.”
One of the main off-field talking points was the number of empty seats after halftime. While many fans may have been looking to get out of the rain, photos of the scene showed larger numbers than usual didn’t return.
“We’re all disappointed and not where we want to be, but it’ll be packed I’m sure next week (against LSU),” Fisher said.
Here’s what else Fisher had to say after the game:
Fisher said Achane was back at practice Thursday and was game-time today, but couldn't go after initially testing it out today.
Said he hopes he can be fully back next week.
