Don’t tell Jimbo Fisher that Nick Saban has to retire for Texas A&M to beat Alabama again.

Speaking Wednesday at the Houston Touchdown Club, a questioner referenced “Saban retiring and finally beating Alabama.”

“We’re going to beat his ass when he’s there. Don’t worry,” Fisher responded.

Audio shared by Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle suggests Fisher’s comment was well-received. Fisher quickly pointed out that he has a lot of respect for his friend and former boss. He also shared that the two will participate in a West Virginia fundraiser combatting the opioid epidemic.

“I respect everything they do and how they do it but we can do it just as good or be just as good or better and we will,” Fisher said of Alabama.

“That’s what our goal is and what I want. So, we’re going to get it done.”

Fisher’s Aggies teams are 0-3 against Saban’s Crimson Tide squads. Alabama was the only team to defeat Texas A&M last season, winning 52-24 in Tuscaloosa. The teams meet on Oct. 9 in College Station this season.
