Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M will have its next scrimmage on Saturday, but the Aggies aren’t necessarily expecting a decision about the starting quarterback after that.

“We’ll wait and see. We’ll see how the scrimmage goes. You could. You could not. We’ll wait and see,” Fisher said Thursday. “I’m not putting a timetable on it. I’ll know when I know.”

Fisher added that there are no injuries that would keep players out of the Sept. 3 opener vs. Sam Houston.

Fisher explained that he’s looking for more consistency, and there’s a long way to go, but the effort and the attitude have been pretty good. Situational football is another area to improve on. Sometimes a team can avoid a turnover, but still make a bad decision. That’s what the next scrimmage is for on Saturday.

“You want to make sure your operational skills of getting plays, getting calls, communication on the field, those type of things, and those are the type of things as a coach, you keep worried about production, but we worry about can we get lined up right, can we get the right calls, all the communication’s being made,” he said. “Who’s making the communications. Those types of things are getting better. Your shot clock, getting plays in, not getting delayed. Having those type of self-inflicted wounds, substitutions. Those things I think are all very critical, and then the execution’s got to go up.”
