The final week of the college football regular season always gives us exhilarating rivalry games, and none were better than the seven-overtime matchup between Texas A&M and LSU at Kyle Field on Saturday.

The Aggies got the win, 74-72 to finish Jimbo Fisher’s first season at 8-4. Sophomore quarterback Kellen Mond has flashed his star potential at times all season, and he finished out the year in style with a performance that earned him National Player of the Week honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Mond finished 23-of-49 passing with 287 yards and an eye-popping 6 touchdowns through the air. He added 42 yards and another score on the ground as well as the Aggies edged out the Tigers in the highest scoring game in college football history.

Texas A&M won in the seventh overtime as Mond connected with Kendrick Rogers on a 2-point conversion to seal it. While there was plenty of controversial officiating and the game appeared to be over several times, Texas A&M finished the 2018 season on a high note.

Mond’s performance Saturday night and throughout the season will give Aggie fans a lot of optimism as Jimbo Fisher continues to implement his system and bring in new players.
