Manny Obaseki drains 3 in final seconds for Texas A&M’s first lead, 1-point win over Ole Miss

Manny Obaseki gave No. 13 Texas A&M its first lead of the game with 13 seconds left at No. 16 Ole Miss. The late 3-pointer turned out to be the game-winner.
The Aggies battled their way back from down 11 points in the 2nd half. With Texas A&M trailing 62-60, Obaseki loaded up from deep.
A&M still had to play defense on one more possession to close it out. Jaemyn Brakefield missed a jumper with 2 seconds left, the game’s final shot.
It was a night of unfortunate firsts for Ole Miss. The Rebels lost for the first time at home, despite having a halftime lead of 33-26.
Ole Miss was 10-0 when leading at halftime, 9-0 at home, and 14-0 when allowing less than 80 points this season.

It was rough shooting in the 2nd half. Texas A&M was 14-of-32 overall and 3-of-13 from 3-point territory, while Ole Miss was 11-of-30 from the field and 4-of-14 from beyond the arc. Over the final 20 minutes, the Aggies dominated rebounds (25-12), bench points (24-6) and fast break points (11-0).
Obaseki scored all 12 of his points in the 2nd half, going 4-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 from 3-point range. Pharrel Payne also logged double-figures in the 2nd half, scoring all 10 of his points. Zhuric Phelps led all Aggies with 14 points in the game on 6-of-19 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 at the line.
Texas A&M looks to make it 3 wins in a row as the Aggies face rival Texas on Saturday. Ole Miss will look to bounce back at Mizzou.
