Mike Elko says he expects Kyle Field crowd to be 'the best its ever been' for Texas game
Mike Elko has big expectations for Texas A&M’s crowd ahead of this week’s game against rival Texas.
Elko met with reporters in College Station on Monday afternoon to help preview this week’s titanic clash with the Longhorns. He pointed out that the stakes have never been higher for a Texas-Texas A&M game, as the winner will advance to the SEC Championship Game.
With plenty of postseason implications and the usual bragging rights for this rivalry on the line, Elko is expecting the 12th Man to live up to its reputation — and then some.
“The best its ever been,” Elko said of his expectations for Kyle Field’s atmosphere on Saturday. “Listen, you get a primetime TV game against your rival in a game that’s for the SEC Championship. I would imagine that will break the rafters a bit.”
This will be the first meeting between these arch rivals since 2011. The next season, Texas A&M left the Big 12 for the SEC. The Longhorns won the most recent edition of this rivalry, 27-25, in College Station.
The winner of Saturday night’s game will face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game for a chance to earn an automatic berth in the College Football Playoff. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
It’s pretty hard not to notice the difference in the A&M versus the Texas coverage on this site. SDS is utterly worthless for an Aggie fan.
