Myles Garrett is one of the premier players in the entire NFL and a game-wrecking defender for the Cleveland Browns. However, the former Texas A&M star is no longer content with the status and outlook for the franchise.

On Monday, he officially requested a trade out of Cleveland via a public statement. Garrett made it clear he’s never been content to focus on a Hall of Fame career — he wants a Super Bowl ring before it’s all said and done.

As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl — and that goal fules me today more than ever. My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decision of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today…

The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.

Garrett has been named a first-team All-Pro selection in 4 of the past 5 seasons, including the 2024 campaign. He led the NFL with 22 tackles for loss and recorded his 7th straight season with at least 10 sacks and a 4th straight season with 14+.

In his 8-year career, Garrett has already amassed 102.5 sacks, 116 TFL and 20 forced fumbles. He won the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year honor in 2023 and is one of the most consistent — and healthiest — defensive difference-makers in the league.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of this situation. Garrett’s public trade requests follows the Senior Bowl where Cleveland GM Andrew Berry told reporters he would not entertain trade offers.
