Noah Thomas is emerging as perhaps Texas A&M’s best wide receiver ahead of the 2024 season.

Thomas is coming off of a relatively-quiet 2023 campaign, as he caught 29 passes for 359 yards a year ago. But after his performance in the spring game, Thomas is looking like he could take the next step toward being a No. 1 option for the Aggies this fall.

Thomas caught 2 touchdowns in the Maroon & White Game on Saturday, including this diving catch in the red zone:

In his postgame press conference, head coach Mike Elko endorsed the idea that Thomas could be a top option for Texas A&M this fall.

“He has tremendous size, he has a very large catch radius,” Elko said. “I think he’s gotten healthy. He had some offseason stuff that he was dealing with towards the end of the year last year. He’s getting healthier, he got healthier as spring went on.

“I think it’s going to be really important for him to have a really strong summer. I think if he can develop some strength and get his body where it can possibly be, yeah, I think he has all the makings of being a guy that we can use as a top target.”

Listed at 6-foot-6, 200 pounds, Thomas has the size and athleticism to a threat all over the field — but especially in the red zone. In addition to his diving TD grab, he finished the day with 7 catches for 86 yards and 2 total touchdowns.

There figures to be plenty of opportunity in Texas A&M’s WR room this fall as it attempts to replace production from the departed Evan Stewart (transfer) and Ainias Smith (NFL Draft).

Texas A&M has not had a 1,000-yard receiver in a single season since Josh Reynolds accomplished that feat in 2016. Perhaps Thomas will break that drought this upcoming fall.
