Texas A&M and Clemson will square off Saturday afternoon, and it’s a matchup of two head coaches who have each won a national championship.

They are, of course, at different phases in their programs, with Jimbo Fisher in his second year with the Aggies and Dabo Swinney, with two rings, in his 12th year with the Tigers. But SEC Network host Paul Finebaum makes a clear distinction between the two individually. Not counting their rosters or staffs, or anything else.

“With all due respect,” Finebaum said on his show, “he’s a better coach than Dabo Swinney. Dabo may have a great staff, but I’ll take Jimbo any day in a one-off, and can he pull some magic out. He’s going to need a lot of help to win this game. If I’m sitting there at any school, and I have the choice between Jimbo and Dabo, not even close.”

Both coaches won their opener last week. Swinney entered this season 116-30 overall at Clemson, while Fisher is 92-27 overall, including his stint at Florida State. The Aggies were 9-4 last season, while Clemson won the national title at 15-0.

For what it’s worth, Swinney holds a 5-4 edge in the head-to-head series.
