Texas A&M took advantage of the final day before the recruiting dead period begins to land its third pledge of the 2023 recruiting class.

The Aggies landed a commitment from 2023 offensive tackle Colton Thomasson, who is listed at 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds. He’s from Spring Branch, Texas, and the San Antonio-area prospect has been on the Aggie radar for some time, including a camp invitation after his eighth grade year.

“A&M is home to me,” Thomasson said on Saturday while in town for the A&M pool party, per GigEm247. “It feels like I can show up here and not have to change myself at all to fit in!”

He picked up an Aggies offer at another camp last month.

“When I was in eighth grade, and this was back when coach (Jim) Turner was there, he and coach Fisher invited me out to visit. And then I started liking the place a lot. I visited and then went to camp after that,” Thomasson recently told GigEm247.

Recently,  Thomasson has seen a major life change as he lost 85 pounds since January. Thomasson picked up offers this summer from Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas. The offers came in conjunction with losing the weight

“I went into January at 403 pounds and realized I needed to make a change,” he told GigEm247. “So I cut out all the junk food. I’ve had discipline – I eat five meals a day and I’m just consistent with it. I lost a little muscle at first, too, which was only natural. But I’ve gotten it back tenfold. I feel way stronger too, on top of being mobile.”
