Depth in the Texas A&M secondary has taken another hit. Derrick Tucker is the latest veteran Aggie defensive back to announce he is opting out of the 2020 season in support of Black Lives Matter.

“There is a lot going on in the world and in my life right now. I want to do my part when it comes to making a difference and taking initiative in one’s personal health. I have chosen to sit out this season in support to BLM. If 2020 has taught me anything so far, it is that life is bigger than football. We can’t keep pushing past the fact that there is so much injustice in our world,” Tucker wrote in a note shared on Twitter, including hashtags #BLM, #HOMEOFTHEBRAVE and #JACOBBLAKE.

Tucker joined Texas A&M in 2017. He only played in 4 games last season but appeared in 21 games his first two seasons in College Station, totaling 82 tackles, 6 passes defended, a forced fumble and an interception that went for a touchdown. Late Monday, senior starting Aggies cornerback Elijah Blades announced his decision to opt-out.
