Texas A&M is hosting Sam Houston State to open the 2022 season. Judging by the first half, it’s a good thing that the offense is working against an FCS program (transitioning to FBS) to work on some things.

The Aggie offense has been all-or-nothing in the first 2 quarters. Haynes King and Yulkeith Brown connected for a highlight 66-yard touchdown. Late in the second quarter, King and Ainias Smith connected for a 63-yard TD. With the extra point, the Aggies’ lead was extended to 17-0, the score at the half.

New offensive line coach Steve Addazio appears to have some work to do with his unit. Besides the big-play touchdowns, the passing game has been hampered by wide receiver drops.

The big plays deliver excitement, but Texas A&M fans and others expect more sustained drives with consistency from the No. 6 team.

The game is currently airing on the SEC Network.
