Rivalry renewed: Texas A&M's bowl destination, opponent revealed
While Texas A&M won’t be able to compete in the College Football Playoff this year, there’s a small consolation prize waiting for the Aggies in the Orange Bowl.

That would be a meeting with former Texas coach Mack Brown, who Texas A&M fans are very familiar with from their time in the Big 12.
According to Stadium’s Brett McMurphy, that matchup is all but final.
Brown faced the Aggies 14 times as Texas’ head coach, going 10-4 in those matchups. Brown got the last word, a 27-25 win over Texas A&M in College Station in the schools’ last meeting back in 2011.
However, Brown missed the last decade or so of Texas A&M’s rise as the Aggies departed for the SEC and Brown for an ESPN broadcasting job.
Now, A&M will face Brown again as he’s in his second year in charge of North Carolina. The Tar Heels had a great year, including wins over North Carolina State and Miami.
There’s a bit of history on A&M’s side, too. Jimbo Fisher is undefeated as a coach when playing at Hard Rock Stadium, where the Orange Bowl is held.

As for Texas A&M and North Carolina, those programs have never met before on the football field.
The Orange Bowl will be played on Jan. 2, 2021.
UPDATE: The SEC has confirmed this news.
