A few days after Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano announced plans to transfer, a report has surfaced than the Vols have learned that another QB has entered the transfer portal.

Tennessee quarterback J.T. Shrout has informed the Vols staff that he intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, Pete Thamel of Yahoo has reported.

Shrout played in four games this past regular season, but really got some run late in the season with the majority of his production against Florida, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M. He was 12-for-14 against Florida with 121 passing yards and a touchdown. In that game, Shrout, a third-year sophomore, led touchdown drives of 94 and 96 yards over the game’s final 11 minutes.

Overall, Shrout was 24-for-42 passing for 315 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Entering the season Shrout earned the backup job to the incumbent Guarantano by taking advantage of the practice time missed by Harrison Bailey and Brian Maurer. However, it was Bailey who got the start against Florida.

Last season, Shrout led the Vols to wins against South Carolina and UAB.

Shrout is from Santa Clarita, California and was a 3-star prospect coming out of high school. He had a reported 10 offers and was the No. 26 pro-style QB in the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite.
