Report: Details emerge in domestic assault charge of Tennessee receiver Josh Smith
Tennessee wide receiver Josh Smith was arrested on domestic assault charges Saturday morning after an altercation with his male roommate.
Smith was taken to jail after the incident with his roommate, Kennedy Foster, and was later released after posting a $2,000 bail. The police report of the incident has provided a clearer picture of how things went down.
The police report states that Smith and Foster began drinking at their residence around 10 p.m. on Friday night, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. Foster then began a coughing fit and retreated into his bedroom and locked the door. According to the report, Foster told police at the hospital that Smith kicked in his door to check on him and began to push and hit him shortly thereafter.r had a slightly different story to tell.

According to the report, Smith stated that he intervened when Foster and his third roommate got into an altercation a little while later. During this altercation, Smith reportedly kicked Foster twice in the face while he lay on the ground.
“We understand the policy of law enforcement to make an arrest in any situation of domestic violence,” Smith’s attorney, Keith Stewart said, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel. “Following a full investigation, we expect a full resolution for Josh. We don’t believe he is guilty of any crime. He has cooperated with law enforcement and will continue to do so.”
A redshirt senior, Smith missed most of Tennessee’s spring practice after having a double groin surgery in January. Smith started in six games last season for the Vols and had 13 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.
