Josh Heupel on Tennessee fake crowd noise claims: ‘Hopefully our fans take that personally’
Josh Heupel met with reporters in Knoxville on Wednesday afternoon.
Heupel covered several key topics in the press conference, including some recent claims by people close to Alabama that Tennessee pipes in fake crowd noise on game days at Neyland Stadium.
“Neyland doesn’t need anything fake piped into the stadium for that to be the loudest place in America,” Heupel said. “Hopefully our fans take that personally, enjoy this bye week and come back and then be louder than ever the next time we’re at home.”
Here’s video of Heupel’s comments:

Heupel’s comments were in response to claims made by Alabama radio play-by-play man Chris Stewart and former Tide quarterback AJ McCarron, who made separate accusations this week.
Tennessee athletic director Danny White also addressed the claims earlier in the week.
With a capacity over 100,000 people, Neyland Stadium has long had the reputation as one of the loudest venues in all of college football. This past Saturday marked Tennessee’ second consecutive home victory over Alabama.
Tennessee’s next hope game is on Nov. 2 against Kentucky.
