Kirk Herbstreit hammers Tennessee fans for their reaction to the Greg Schiano reports
It is being reported that Greg Schiano and Tennessee are close to a deal for Schiano to become the next head coach of the Vols, but that report has not been well received by numerous Tennessee fans.
Photos of The Rock from Tennessee’s campus surfaced Sunday with a strong statement about Schiano that references his time at Penn State. Multiple state representatives in Tennessee even took to Twitter to urge the university to not hire Schiano.
Nothing has been made official yet as fans wait to see if the Volunteers will hire Schiano, but at least one analyst believes the hiring would be a good move.
ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit tweeted that he believes Schiano would be a great hire for the university and urged Vols fans to get behind the potential head coach:
Been traveling all day back from ND/Stanford game last pm. Hearing some @Vol_Football fans upset about Schiano hire!? Why? You know what the Vols record is last 13 YEARS is?? 86-77!! A little better than 6-6 avg! I think he is a GREAT hire to bring you back! Get behind him!!

Nothing has been made official at this point, but Herbstreit definitely voiced his support for Schiano.
Here are some other tweets from Herbstreit about Schiano:
How do you know that??? I don’t know what’s real and what’s not from that ENTIRE story. And you’re gonna assume to know something??? Pretty dangerous accusation IMO. https://t.co/Vqk2Izi62G

Dale you clearly are one of those clowns that hears what he wants to hear!! Not an “Encourager” of UT football. We talk reality on our show. If it’s good—it’s good if it’s not—it’s not. Love to Tennessee get it going. #BeatIt https://t.co/FSDyC3VRFV

Wow!! Really??? Really Zach??? Be careful friend. Of course I’m not condoning one of the worst stories in my lifetime, but I’m not comfortable ruining a mans entire reputation when I have no idea what he knew or didn’t know. You & others on the other hand have no problem w/ that! https://t.co/AOUadF6PXk
