Just when it looked like things couldn’t get any worse for Butch Jones.

The Tennessee Volunteers are struggling through an especially bad season under Jones that may just cost him his job. The Vols are 3-3 and remain without a win in the SEC.

Tennessee will likely not see that first SEC win come this weekend as the team travels to take on No. 1 Alabama. This year’s version of the rivalry features the biggest opening line in the history of the series with the Tide as a 34-point favorite. Former Vols QB Erik Ainge said Tennessee has not beaten Alabama in so long that he doesn’t believe the Tide view the Vols as a rival at this point.

Fans in Knoxville are fed up with Jones and the current state of the program, but they are far from the only ones that want Jones to go. The Memphis Grizzlies had their first NBA game on Wednesday night, and a fan sign calling for Jones to be fired made an appearance in the post show.

At this point, it is hard to envision Jones keeping his job after this season. It would likely take a miraculous upset of Alabama and other big wins down the stretch for him to stay.

Saturday’s kickoff against Alabama is set for 3:30 pm EST on CBS.
