Former Tennessee star WR Marquez Callaway delivered four catches for 34 yards on Monday night in the New Orleans Saints 30-27 overtime win against the Los Angeles Chargers in a game where he was targeted six times.
That was noticed by Saints star RB Alvin Kamara, another former Tennessee player, who welcomed the production to the team.
“That’s my Vol brother, me and Quez went to Tennessee together,” Kamara said. “I know he got it in him, I just talked to him and told him, make a play. Just go do something. His name was called, he did what he had to do, it’s next man up. He’s playing well, he’s getting more and more comfortable as the games go on and I’m happy to see it. I went to college with him so it’s fun to see that.”
Callaway signed as an undrafted free agent after a Tennessee career in which he had 92 catches for 1,646 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also returned 3 punts for touchdowns in his career.
Callaway ended his college career ranked No. 16 UT history in receiving yardage and his career 13.6 punt return average ranks fourth in school history and his three punt return touchdowns are second all-time.
