Bailey and Gilbert were high school teammates at Marietta High School and led the program to its first Georgia state title in over 50 years.

Bailey tried to recruit Gilbert via social media in January when the LSU tight end entered the NCAA transfer portal. Bailey was obviously unsuccessful the first go around.
