Arguably the hottest team on the recruiting trail in the SEC, if not the nation, Tennessee had picked up eight commitments in a month’s time. The hot streak hit a speed bump Tuesday, however, as one of those verbal commits went from hard to nonexistent.

After committing during the Orange & White Game weekend, Florida running back Jashaun Corbin has decided to back off his commitment to the Volunteers. Corbin announced the news via Twitter Tuesday morning:

The 6-foot, 191-pound running back is currently ranked as only a three-star prospect, but the nation’s No. 8 all-purpose back per 247Sports. After announcing his pledge to the Vols, Corbin had been compared favorably to former Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara. Corbin’s list of offers includes Florida, LSU, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, and USC among many others.

There’s still plenty of time for Tennessee to get him back on board before signing day arrives, however, his potential loss could be big for a team currently lacking depth at running back. The Vols had only one healthy scholarship running back for the majority of spring practice. Tennessee does have three summer enrollees set to join the program in the coming weeks, but obviously, none have proven themselves on the college stage at this point.
