Cooper Manning described it as a concierge role when he described the recruitment of his son, Arch Manning.

Cooper, the older brother of Peyton and Eli Manning, was a guest on “The Dan Patrick Show” this week and recapped how he was involved with the high-profile recruitment, which eventually ended in Arch, the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2023, committing to Texas.

“There’s a balance the whole time,” Cooper said, and added that parents of other recruits have solicited advice from him. “I really took the role of just being kind of the concierge, ‘Let’s go take a look at these schools.’ ‘Dad, I don’t want to go, I just want to stay here with my buddies.’ I know, that sounds great, but we’ve got to go see them, otherwise you’re not going to figure out what you like and what you don’t like. So a little bit of a nag, probably if anything, let’s take a look at this stuff. But he was a little more mature, I mean all teenagers are immature, but he was a little more mature in what he liked, and what he didn’t like. I liked some stuff that he didn’t like, and vice versa. It was his decision the whole way and I was proud of the way he handled the whole thing. He didn’t want any limelight on him, he wanted to stay away from the social media stuff. He didn’t want to draw any attention to himself, and is still kind of wired that way. I want to play ball and enjoy it, but I don’t want to be getting more attention than I deserve.”
