Matthew McConaughey sends message to Texas after devastating Cotton Bowl loss
Matthew McConaughey has a message for Texas players following UT’s devastating loss in the Cotton Bowl on Friday night.
The famed actor and Texas super-fan shared his message of encouragement with Longhorn players in the aftermath of Texas’s 28-14 defeat to Ohio State.
“Hell of a fight tonight men of Texas Longhorns football,” he wrote on social media. “After the pain subsides be sure and love on each other and yourselves for so much that you did so well so much of this year. It was a season to be proud of.”
McConaughey was in attendance on Friday night, as he almost always is at any major Texas football game. The contest came down to the wire, with Ohio State needing a late scoop-and-score from Jack Sawyer in order to secure the victory.
Despite the loss, it’s clear the Texas program is headed in the right direction under Steve Sarkisian. The Longhorns have now reached the semifinals of the College Football Playoff in back-to-back seasons after never having made the Playoff prior to 2023.
With this defeat, Texas is now 25-5 over the past 2 seasons. It marks the first time the Longhorns have won double-digit games in back-to-back campaigns since the height of the Mack Brown era.
