Quinn Ewers is preparing his team for the upcoming Cotton Bowl against Ohio State.

For Ewers, the matchup is even more personal as he previously played at Ohio State before transferring to Texas. Coming out of high school, Ewers signed with the Buckeyes and spent 1 season with the team in 2021. Since then, Ewers has led the Longhorns back to relevancy and is in the Playoff 2 years in a row.

Ahead of the upcoming matchup, the QB said he was thankful for his time in Columbus and doesn’t regret any of his decisions.

“I learned a lot while I was there, that whole room was awesome to be around. I don’t regret any decision I’ve made,” explained Ewers. “They were winning a lot of games and I wanted to go be a part of something like that.”

The QB then mentioned that his main motivation for transferring back to Texas was to be closer to home.

“To be closer to where I’m from, to be closer to the resources that I have and the relationships that I’ve built over time just being from Texas,” Ewers said.

Since coming to Austin, Ewers has thrown for 8,845 yards with 66 TDs and 23 INTs. In 2024, the QB has 3,189 yards with a career-high 29 TDs. So far in this year’s College Football Playoff, Ewers has led his team to wins over Clemson and Arizona State.

The Longhorns will kick off against the Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10.
