Quinn Ewers is no stranger to the team he and the Texas Longhorns will be facing in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10 in the second College Football Playoff semifinal game. That’s because they are the Ohio State Buckeyes, who Ewers used to suit up for before ultimately transferring to Texas and winning the starting quarterback job.
‘There is no bad blood there.
Ahead of the Cotton Bowl, Ewers took some time to reflect on when he first arrived at Ohio State and what the environment was like there. He recalls that he first came to Ohio State at a bit of a unique time in comparison to when most other players do, but that he was welcomed with open arms.
“It’s going to be awesome just to get to see all of those guys again,” he told reporters this week. “I feel like I made some really good relationships while I was there and those guys were fun to be around when I was there. They took me in and kind of a weird time… it was in the middle of fall camp.”
Many of the players that were with the Buckeyes when Ewers was on the team are still there. That includes his former roommate.
“I felt like I belonged there,” Ewers continued. “Me and Jack Sawyer were roommates my freshman year with some other guys. It’s going to be cool to get to see them.”
The Longhorns and the Buckeyes are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday. The Longhorns are a 5.5-point underdog in the game at ESPN Bet.
