Thanks in large part to Kumar Rocker, Vanderbilt has just taken Game 1 of the Commodores Super Regional series against ECU with a 2-0 win on Friday.

Following this result, Vanderbilt is one win away from advancing to the College World Series.

Rocker left the game after 7.2 innings pitched after retiring the first nine batters he faced, striking out 11, allowing three hits and three walks on 117 pitches. For his college career, Rocker has pitched 42.2 postseason innings, allowed 20 hits, struck out 64 batters and allowed just three runs.

Kumar’s performance wasn’t the only one worth touting on Friday, however, as ECU pitcher Gavin Williams struck out 13 Commodores in the game.

Game 2 of the series is set to take place on Saturday at Noon ET/11 a.m. CT on ESPN2.
