Kumar Rocker was a 38th round pick by the Colorado Rockies in the 2018 MLB Draft, but he had his heart set on going to Vanderbilt, anyway.

That proved to be a great decision for the freshman right-handed pitcher, as he has become an absolute star this postseason.

After helping Vanderbilt avoid elimination on Tuesday night in Game 2 of the College World Series vs. Michigan, Rocker’s stats during the NCAA Tournament are ridiculous. As you can see below, he has a 4-0 record, a 0.96 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 28 innings:

Those numbers include a 19-strikeout no-hitter against Duke during the super-regional round, the first no-hitter in that round ever.

He still has a couple of years before he can head to the pro ranks, so it’ll be exciting to see what he can do in the years to come. On Wednesday night, though, he’ll be closely watching his teammates from the dugout as the Commodores go for a national championship.
