Unfortunately, or fortunately, for AJ McCarron, he’s known as the Alabama quarterback who has the Auburn model girlfriend more than winning back-to-back championships at this very moment.

McCarron’s girlfriend Katherine Webb has become an overnight sensation on the interwebs, and the man leading that charge was play-by-play man Brent Musburger. Musburger gushed over Webb during the broadcast, prompting ESPN to apologize earlier today.

“Have been asked on focus on @_KatherineWebb in BCS: We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that,” ESPN’s Mike Soltys posted on Twitter.

McCarron seemed a bit jealous she received more attention than he did during the live broadcast.

ESPN didn’t, however, apologize for making Webb the focus of the camera throughout the entire game and felt the need to apologize for Musburger only.

  • Musburger’s comments were hilarious. She by far stole the show last night, and McCarron winning 2 titles became kind of an afterthought. Brent gushing over her is funny, not in a creepy way.

  • “Wow, I’m telling you quarterbacks: You get all the good-looking women,” Brent Musburger said as the camera focused on Webb, sitting with McCarron’s mother. “What a beautiful woman. Wow!”

  • I watched and thought his commentary was hilarious, a moment of comedic relief from what was a sad ball game. I have granddaughters and seriously take no issue with Musburger’s comments. Some folks need to get a life.

  • Not as creepy as Darnell Docket’s comments on twitter

  • I think he was drunk…he even mentioned Manziel’s “off the field life” later on. Musberger was on the prowl and I think it’s harmless. My question is how long can anyone of her hotness look over that god-awful tattoo that keeps growing like some kind of gross infection?
