National Signing Day is on Feb. 4 and the SEC is primed to bring in another impressive haul of top recruits in the 2015 recruiting class.

In the next 25 days, Saturday Down South counts down the top 25 recruits either committed to the SEC or strongly considering SEC schools.

Starting with No. 25 …

No. 25 Shy Tuttle

Position: Defensive Tackle

247Sports ranking: No. 36 , four-star

Committed: Tennessee

The skinny: Ironically, it’s tough to begin Shy Tuttle’s “skinny” without talking about his size. He’s huge. At 6-foot-3, 320-pounds, Tuttle is already at the size where he can compete along the line of scrimmage in the SEC. So many times, you see talented defensive line recruits come into college and have to sit out a year, sometimes two, to get their bodies in the right physical shape for the SEC. Not so with Tuttle. Despite his size, Tuttle possesses surprisingly impressive speed at the LOS and will be a challenge for most offensive lineman to defend. His size and speed will demand a double-team as his career progresses, which should allow guys like Derek Barnett to see more 1-on-1 opportunities.

Freshman projection: There’s no denying that Tuttle is physically capable of competing in the SEC right away. What it’ll come down to is if he’s mentally prepared. Fortunately for the five-star defensive tackle, he is early enrolling at Tennessee this week which will give him a head start on gaining familiarity with the defense. Tennessee is losing just Jordan Williams at tackle, but no one on the Vols’ depth chart comes close to Tuttle’s size. His ability to play both nose and defensive tackle should help him see the field early, too. So as long as Tuttle is able to get comfortable within Tennesee’s defense, he’s the kind of player that will be seeing a lot of in 2015.
