From August to December, rankings drive the college football conversation. In August, we get the initial ranking from the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll. When the calendar reaches November, the College Football Playoff selection committee weighs in with its own top 25. What if Vegas ranked the top 25 teams in college football? For that, college football fans can turn to Phil Steele.

Steele, widely recognized as one of college football’s leading experts, offers a look into how the Las Vegas oddsmakers rank all 138 FBS teams throughout the season. He has connections to oddsmakers at the Las Vegas SuperBook and other casinos. Steele has published weekly in-season Vegas Power Ratings since his time at ESPN. He’s independent these days, but continues to publish the Vegas numbers on a weekly basis in season.

While the Coaches, AP voters and CFP committee members weigh records and resumes, Vegas oddsmakers are only concerned with which team would be favored on a neutral field. After all, Vegas casinos weren’t built on the house losing money.

On Tuesday, the CFP selection committee revealed its first top 25 of the 2026 season. On Wednesday, Steele shared his latest Vegas rankings, offering a look at how the smartest folks in the desert would rank college football’s top 25 teams. Steele includes each team’s Vegas Rating in his power rankings. The difference in two teams’ Vegas Ratings suggests what the betting line would be if those two teams played on a neutral field.

Georgia is No. 1 in the Vegas Rankings, as the Bulldogs would be favored against any opponent. Here’s the top 25:
