Geno Smith was back on the field for Alabama in Monday’s practice after more than a week away from the team. Smith was arrested on March 28 for driving under the influence, his second such arrest in less than two years.

Reports indicate that Smith was working with the second team defense on Monday. The senior came into spring practice as the expected starter at one safety position after Alabama lost Landon Collins to the NFL draft and Nick Perry to graduation. According to TimesDaily.com, early enrollee freshman Ronnie Harrison was working as the first team free safety, while sophomore Hootie Jones was the first team strong safety.

While Smith is back at practice, Nick Saban has not yet disclosed what Smith’s punishment will be. Last week, he said that Smith will have several things he must accomplish off the field. Smith was suspended for one game in 2013 after his first DUI arrest.
