Amari Cooper made Auburn’s secondary look silly on Saturday night.

He caught touchdown passes of 17, 39 and 75 yards. On the second touchdown, to get the Tide within 33-27 in the third quarter, offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin called his shot an instant after the snap.

Kiffin celebrated as soon as he saw Cooper in single coverage.

The line of scrimmage was the Auburn 39-yard line. Kiffin started celebrating when Cooper raced past the 32.

If Kiffin was a clairvoyant, he wouldn’t have gotten fired from two head coaching jobs and left another with an angry mob chasing him. More likely he just realized the obvious: leave Cooper in 1-on-1 coverage with any of Auburn’s defensive backs and it’s going to result in a touchdown.

Cooper finished the game with 13 catches for 224 yards.
