Alabama’s offense is in the middle of a reload on offense. Gone is Blake Sims, a one-year starter who put up the best passing year in Alabama history. Gone too is T.J. Yeldon, a brilliant performer for three years. The Crimson Tide are also replacing the greatest receiver in school history, Amari Cooper.

Not only is the Biletnikoff Award winner heading to the NFL, but the next two guys in line after Cooper, DeAndrew White and Christion Jones, are on their way out of Tuscaloosa as well. That leaves Alabama with quite a void to will at receiver.

Luckily for the Tide, there’s plenty of talent waiting in the wings. Alabama has recruited well at receiver over the last several years, giving offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin a bevy of options.

Given Kiffin’s history, it’s safe to assume that one Alabama receiver will rise above and garner the majority of targets. Who are the guys that can potentially fill Cooper’s shoes?

Chris Black — The redshirt junior enters the season without having lived up to his five-star recruiting ranking yet. Black came to campus at the same time as Cooper, but has seen his career take off like Cooper’s. Black doesn’t have the build to play the X receiver position Cooper played, but if he can show Kiffin that he can dominate from the slot, the Tide will find a way to use him.

Career stats: 23 catches, 267 yards, 2 TD

Robert Foster — Foster looks to be a likely candidate to fill in at Cooper’s old spot in the offense, standing at 6-foot-3 and 191 pounds. Foster is another former five-star, but he made minimal impact as a redshirt freshman in 2014. We’ll find out this spring how ready he is to take on an expanded role.

Career stats: 6 catches, 44 yards

Calvin Ridley — If he were already on campus as an early enrollee, this would be more of a conversation, but logic holds that Ridley is likely to take a redshirt in his first year on campus. Still, we can’t totally rule out the No. 1 high school receiver in the nation from earning serious burn as a freshman.

Career stats: Incoming freshman

Cam Sims — Sims got on the field some as a true freshman in 2014, which sets him apart from some of the other names he’ll be competing with. At 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds Sims fits the mold of what Kiffin would like to have at the X spot.

Career stats: 7 catches, 62 yards, 1 TD

ArDarius Stewart — After Black, Stewart is Alabama’s leading returning wide receiver. A redshirt freshman in 2014, Stewart had 12 grabs, but he was shut out in eight of the 13 games he played in. With more consistent playing time, Stewart could be next in line to put up huge numbers for Kiffin.

Career stats: 12 catches, 149 yards

Other possibilities: Raheem Falkins, Derek Kief
