Established senior receiver Richard Mullaney, formerly of Oregon State, will visit Alabama on Monday as he seeks another football program for his final year of eligibility.

Mullaney, a 6-foot-3, 209-pound starter for the Beavers, caught 52 passes for 788 yards as a sophomore in ’13. He missed the second half of last season due to an elbow injury. He then watched as coach Mike Riley left for Nebraska and former Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen headed to Corvallis, Ore.

Despite working with the first-team offense during spring practice, Mullaney decided to play elsewhere after graduating from Oregon State with a degree in human development and family sciences.

Mullaney’s 83 career catches represent a higher total than any of the receivers on Alabama’s roster.

Currently, a healthy mix of players are expected to contend for passing targets, including Robert Foster, ArDarius Stewart, O.J. Howard, Kenyan Drake and Chris Black. If he transfers to the Tide, Mullaney immediately should become part of that group.

He’s not a savior at quarterback, like many Bama fans hoped to cull from the transfer market. But Mullaney could be a solid addition to coordinator Lane Kiffin’s offense for 2015, especially considering the team lost three senior starters at receiver and lacks experience.
