On Wednesday, rumors have been swirling about the status of Alabama quarterback Blake Barnett.

Multiple sources have indicated Barnett will likely transfer away from the program — presumably closer to his home state of California.

In response to the reports, head coach Nick Saban addressed Barnett’s status with the program — including a conversation he had with the redshirt freshman quarterback earlier in the day.

The emergence of freshman Jalen Hurts ultimately could lead to this move. Should Barnett indeed leave, David Cornwell and Cooper Bateman will backup Hurts.

Alabama also has two highly-ranked quarterbacks currently slated to come in with the 2017 class (Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones).
