Though the move has been all but official since earlier this week, Arkansas defensive coordinator Robb Smith finally sent in his letter of resignation to the school late Friday night.

Smith will take the same position under new coach P.J. Fleck at Minnesota in 2017.

After receiving the official letter of resignation, coach Bret Bielema released a statement thanking Smith for his three years of service in Fayetteville:

Smith’s defense allowed 30.3 points per game in 2016, continuing a downward trend that saw the Razorbacks go from 19 points per game in 2014 to 27 points per contest in 2015.
