HOOVER, Ala. — Much of the conversation surrounding Arkansas on Wednesday involved new offensive coordinator Dan Enos.

How will the offense change? Can quarterback Brandon Allen do more in Enos’ system? Are the Razorbacks going to get more explosive?

That last inquiry may be the most significant that Enos faces after migrating from Central Michigan, where he served as head coach.

But the team’s greatest talent pool resides at the tight end position, according to recruiting rankings and style of play. Keon Hatcher, the unquestioned No. 1 option at receiver, caught 43 passes in 2014. Just six of them produced gains of at least 20 yards.

Jojo Robinson, a raw receiver thought to hold the potential to become a big-play target, exited spring without becoming a core facet of the offense.

The team’s biggest downfield threat in 2015 may be a player who has yet to practice with the Razorbacks — 6-foot-4 JUCO transfer Dominique Reed.

A slight 185 pounds, according to 247Sports, Reed exited Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College as a borderline three- and four-star signee. He’ll get two full seasons at Arkansas, but the team needs him right now. The majority of his catches at Coffeyville came on throws that required Reed to outrun and outjump the coverage well downfield.

“I feel like Dominique Reed can help us out a lot in the deep game,” Hatcher said. “He runs good routes, he can run really well and he has some solid hands.”

Added Allen: “He’s an absolute lightning bolt.”

One of Arkansas’ top priorities during fall camp may be to incorporate Reed into the offense.
